At first I was able to run everything with no problems,but then suddenly this error started appearing everytime I try to build pointing me to this xml file specifically : C:UsersLenovo.gradlecachestransforms-2files-2.1f243f87f287fb4f4052bd069a9b71980core-1.7.0resvaluesvalues.xml:105:5 .. saying AAPT: error: resource android:attr/lStar not found
I even tried creating a new empty project, but the problem still occurs every time I attempt to run..so what’s the problem being created at this XML file?

Here are my code files:

  1. I followed what Bashar Hamade did and copy-pasted the contents of the build.gradle file of a working project. It actually solved the problem. Looking at it more carefully, here is what I noticed:

    Set your implementation dependencies for core and appcompat
    from

    ...
    implementation 'androidx.core:core-ktx:1.7.0'
    implementation 'androidx.appcompat:appcompat:1.4.0'
    ...

    to

    ...
    implementation 'androidx.core:core-ktx:1.6.0'
    implementation 'androidx.appcompat:appcompat:1.3.1'
    ...

    Changing only one of them does not solve the problem for some reason. I guess core-ktx:1.6.0 and appcompat:1.3.1 work together. You can’t mess around with one without changing the other.

    By the way, this problem seems to be coming from a recent Android Studio upgrade.

  2. For me worked to update in build.gradle:

    compileSdkVersion = 31
    targetSdkVersion = 31

    So change 30 to 31.

  3. If you are using react-native and getting this error after Nov 4, 2022 and have not changed anything in your codebase, the fix might just be upgrading react-native to the hotfixed minor version.

    See this for more detail: https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/35210

  4. I just fixed this issue by replace ./gradlew assembleRelease by ./gradlew app:assembleRelease
