I have css like this below,
background-image: url('data:image/svg+xml;charset=utf8,%3Csvg%20xmlns%3D%22http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg%22%20viewBox%3D%220%200%2024%2024%22%3E%20%3Cpath%20d%3D%22M23.7%2020.8%2019%2016.1c-.2-.2-.5-.3-.8-.3h-.8c1.3-1.7%202-3.7%202-6C19.5%204.4%2015.1%200%209.7%200S0%204.4%200%209.7s4.4%209.7%209.7%209.7c2.3%200%204.3-.8%206-2v.8c0%20.3.1.6.3.8l4.7%204.7c.4.4%201.2.4%201.6%200l1.3-1.3c.5-.5.5-1.2.1-1.6zm-14-5.1c-3.3%200-6-2.7-6-6s2.7-6%206-6%206%202.7%206%206-2.6%206-6%206z%22%20fill%3D%22%23767d83%22%3E%3C%2Fpath%3E%20%3C%2Fsvg%3E');
It shows the magnifying glass icon.
Now I want to change this icon to home button.
I can find the icon on fontawesome page and get the link
<svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" viewBox="0 0 576 512"><!--!Font Awesome Free 6.6.0 by @fontawesome - https://fontawesome.com License - https://fontawesome.com/license/free Copyright 2024 Fonticons, Inc.--><path d="M575.8 255.5c0 18-15 32.1-32 32.1l-32 0 .7 160.2c0 2.7-.2 5.4-.5 8.1l0 16.2c0 22.1-17.9 40-40 40l-16 0c-1.1 0-2.2 0-3.3-.1c-1.4 .1-2.8 .1-4.2 .1L416 512l-24 0c-22.1 0-40-17.9-40-40l0-24 0-64c0-17.7-14.3-32-32-32l-64 0c-17.7 0-32 14.3-32 32l0 64 0 24c0 22.1-17.9 40-40 40l-24 0-31.9 0c-1.5 0-3-.1-4.5-.2c-1.2 .1-2.4 .2-3.6 .2l-16 0c-22.1 0-40-17.9-40-40l0-112c0-.9 0-1.9 .1-2.8l0-69.7-32 0c-18 0-32-14-32-32.1c0-9 3-17 10-24L266.4 8c7-7 15-8 22-8s15 2 21 7L564.8 231.5c8 7 12 15 11 24z"/></svg>
However this is the bit different the one I got in css.
Is it convertable? or am I wrong from the begginng?

Yes it is convertible.
The css
url
function expects a absolute URL, a relative URL, a blob URL, or a data URL. In your example the css is using a Data URL, URLs prefixed with the data: scheme, allow content creators to embed small files inline in documents..We can surely build a data URL from that svg by following the expected syntax.
mediatype
for svg isimage/svg+xml
. from Common MIME typesencoding can be omitted but let’s use
charset=utf8
data has to be encoded. The easiest way will be to use
encodeURIComponent("<svg...")
Putting all together:
you can use encodeURI()…
the full process:
(remove the comments ;
<!--!Font Awesome .....
)to set your own color
use CSS
mask-image
.(also set viewbox to
0 0 576 576
)
