Hi I am creating a website and i want to make the navbar sticky but when I set the position to fixed a whitespace of about 40px is created on top of webpage.

I tried setting position to sticky and it works fine. I also inspected the page and found out that the whitespace is html tag.I have provided the code and images below.

const body = document.body;
let lastScroll = 0;
window.addEventListener('scroll', function() {
    const currentScroll=(window.scrollY);
    if(currentScroll<=0){
        body.classList.remove('scroll-up');
    }
    if(currentScroll>lastScroll && !body.classList.contains('scroll-down')){
        body.classList.remove('scroll-up');
        body.classList.add('scroll-down');
    }
    if(currentScroll<lastScroll && body.classList.contains('scroll-down')){
        body.classList.remove('scroll-down');
        body.classList.add('scroll-up');
    }
    lastScroll=currentScroll;
});

    1. Add the height property to the nav element.

    2. Add padding-top to the body or main element to account for the
      navbar’s height.

    3. see screenshot

      [nav {
      height: 60px; /* Adjust this value */
      }

      main {
      padding-top: 60px; /* Adjust this value */
      }]1
