My Codeigniter Version is ‘3.0.6’. My php version is -7.2.17. It’s not giving me problem locally but giving online. I am not sure what change i have local but not on live.

Code in HomeController.php ( Setting a session )

public function test(){
    $this->session->set_userdata(['test' => "Testing"]);
    //Below Line Does Print 'Testing' But it does this only on homecontroller not on dashboard controller.
    echo $this->session->userdata('test');
 }

Code in Dashboard.php ( Using Value of Session )

 public function testdata(){
        $this->load->library('session');
        echo $this->session->userdata('test');
        //Nothing Echoed by Above Line and it seems value is empty
        //Above Line Does Print 'Testing' in Homecontroller not print on dashboard controller.
    }

I have tried lots of similar questions on stack and tried their solution but there is no solution that worked. My configuration settings are below –

My Config.php file ( application/config Folder )

  1. Try creating your session directory based on your current project paths and set “sess_save_path” to a relative path. You can use one of the predefined relatives.

    FCPATH   -> '/'
    BASEPATH -> '/system/'
    APPPATH  -> '/application/'

    For example

    $config['sess_save_path'] = BASEPATH . 'sess';

    sets path to be

    <your-codeigniter-start-folder>/system/sess

  2. I’ve found a solution to your problem. This issue is common to your CI version.

    all you need to do is replace the system folder of your Codeigniter app to a newer system version. and you are all set.

    it fix this issue using :

    CI_Version: 3.1.2; 3.1.3; 3.1.4 up+

    and i’m using the latest version now. 3.1.10.

  3. Another cause of this issue is if you remove all $_SESSION variables using the unset() function before setting new values. Any $_SESSION variable set after that will not hold its value across controllers. Using the unset() function in this way disables the registration that holds session values, even if your CI_Version is up to date.

    Instead of doing

    unset($_SESSION);
    $_SESSION['test'] = "Testing";

    use this to free up all session variables before setting new ones:

    session_unset();
    $_SESSION['test'] = "Testing";

    More information is here: https://www.php.net/manual/en/function.session-unset.php
